2022 week 10 | heaux tales by jazmine sullivan

I’m using this week to break ground in an area of the pop cultural zeitgeist that I have heard about in passing many times but have missed up until this point: jazmine sullivan and the deluxe edition of her 2021 album, Heaux Tales. this album had everything i could have imagined and more. her voice is huge and full of nuance, her ideas are excessively specific to modern culture with undertones of timeless female experience, and the poetry of it all is astounding. I’m all ears for this woman’s career going forward.

week 47 | amala (deluxe) by doja cat

This week I’m listening to Amala (Deluxe Version) by rapper/singer-songwriter Doja Cat. What a delight. She recently released a new album, Hot Pink, and while I thought long and hard about going with the freshest, I saw that “Tia Tamara” AND “Mooo!” are on the Deluxe Version of her 2018 album Amala so I had to go for that instead (two songs and two videos that are just a really weird and wonderful treat). She’s back on my radar because Mitch is obsessed with her recent release “Juicy” (another song/video that’s just a real fun time).

Kk, I’m not a cat, I don’t say meow, let’s goooo.
